After Your Procedure

Ambulatory Surgery Center of Killeen

RECOVERY: For most procedures, you will recover for 15-30 minutes prior to being discharged. Your doctor or our staff will discuss any activity restrictions with you before you leave. You will be allowed to leave ONLY if you have someone to drive you home. You should rest and take it easy for the remainder of the day and night after the procedure.

Do not take a hot shower or tub bath until the following morning. Most people can return to work the next day.

PAIN RELIEF: Due to the local anesthetic you received, you may experience a decrease in pain for the first couple of hours after a treatment. During this time, do not try things that you have been unable to do before because of your pain.

Once the anesthetic wears off, your pain will return until the injection medication takes effect. Many people begin to experience pain relief within 3 - 5 days. Some treatments require a series of injections to achieve long-term pain relief.

You may experience some slight discomfort at the injection site; if so, simply apply ice to the area for 15 minutes.

FOLLOW UP: Your doctor will advise you when to schedule a follow-up appointment. During the follow-up visit, you and your doctor will discuss the procedure, your degree of pain relief, and the need for any additional treatment(s).

Our staff is here for you. If you have any questions about what happens after your procedure, call the Ambulatory Surgery Center of Killeen at (254) 415-7673.
